"Tennis is like life, you have to learn to face adversity. It's how you react to difficult situations that will determine your success."

Philippe Bédard

Born in 1981 and Growing up on a ski hill and on a golf hill, Philippe Bédard has participated in sports on a competitive level for more than 10 years - "I've always had passion for sports, it's for sure the biggest passion in my life. As a kid, I would always look up to athletes like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Roger Federer. They inspired me in the way they performed on the biggest stages, in high pressured moments".

In 2002, Phillipe was diagnosed with Lupus, causing paralysis and numerous health complications. Discovering Wheelchair Tennis in 2009, it's been Philippe's passion ever since. "I just went to my local club and asked if wheelchair tennis existed. I chose Tennis because it was a great way to regain my health after so many years in hospital. But soon enough it became a way of living and a possibility to represent my country".

Now a full-time athlete in the sport, Philippe is now an 8-time Canadian champion (in both doubles and singles) and participated in London 2012. "Wheelchair Tennis means a lot to me. At first, it was the sport that allowed me to regain my health. But in 2012, I made a dream come true when I represented Canada in London. Tennis is like life, you have to learn to face adversity. It's how you react to difficult situations that will determine your success".
